The residence complex is located in the east coast of the island of Kefallonia, on a hill above the archaeological site of the cave Melissani. The main objective of the architectural study is the harmonization of the building with its environment, while it gently interferes with the natural landscape of the mountain.
The volume of the residence on the ground floor is placed above ground and covered with a planted roof which extends until it reaches the level of the natural ground, giving the impression of an underground structure. Thus, the building integrates in the natural slope, without any interventions - excavations in the natural ground. The building actually rests carefully on the slope, using the pool as a counterweight and anchor.
